In his 'Notice to Correspondents' in this issue of the newspaper, the editor writes: '[t]he poetical effusion of a Subscriber on the banks of the Tamar is capital, but unfortunately we cannot enrich our columns by its publication. The deeds of the Hero of the tale, are now under impartial investigation.'
The unpublished poem may have alluded to Matthew Curling Friend and or William Lushington Goodwin.
