'In a phone conversation, Martin Langford asked me what I thought about intuition. I was stymied. I'd not thought of intuition in connection with inhabiting a poem, and I said I thought 'intuition' was a word like 'creativity' - too broad or general to speak of. "One person's creativity is another person's cliche: Martin suggested. "Yes," I said, "but I don't think in terms of intuition — I don't get a Muse leaning out of a cloud and saying 'Sharkey, take down the following,' or the Holy Spirit saying ' Now hear this'' (Introduction)
