On the heartbreak experienced by Carlotta (aka Charlotte, Carlota), wife of Maximilian I of Mexico, when she learned of her husband's execution.

  • Editor's note (in the Australasian): By the last Panama Mail we learn that an Austrian frigate with the Emperor Maximilian's remains arrived at Corfu on the 9th of January last. The following touching lines from London Society will be read with interest by all who have heard the sad story of 'Poor Carlotta' and her Royal Consort.
