This one stanza poem appeared in several international journals during the nineteenth century. It possibly originated in the US magazine, the Literary Emporium and may have been reproduced in the Australian Journal from Bench and Bar; a Complete Digest of the Wit, Humor, Asperities, and Amenities of the Law by L. J. Bigelow (New York: Harper & Brothers, 1867).
