BiographyHistory

Cecilia Mary Caddell was an Irish novelist some of whose work was published in Australian colonial newspapers and magazines in the nineteenth century.

According to Stephen J. Brown, in Ireland in Fiction, Caddell was a member of 'an old Catholic family that through times of persecution clung to the faith and at the same time retained the family estates ... Though Miss Caddell suffered much from bad health she contributed to many Catholic periodicals. As a rule her writings were devoted to the illustration of Irish history and the Catholic faith.'
