It was shrewdly suspected, that the reason why Sir Richard Bourke disregarded all remonstrances made to him on this subject, arising from a lingering hope, that either the Editor of The Herald or The Gazette, or perhaps both, as both had to travel frequently in that direction after nightfall, might be put hors de combat, by a stumble upon one or other of the ruts and gullies with which the street is so plentifully ornamented. We are glad to see that Colonel Snodgrass is more mercifully disposed!'
