19th-Century Australian Travel Writing
Howard Haywood, member of the Geographical Society of Australasia, published his travel narrative as a tourists’ guide to Tasmania. Presented in short pamphlet style, it provided a detailed presentation of the towns in the north-west of the island, including information on shops, romanticising the picturesque scenery. A similar text, Through Tasmania, was previously published by Haywood in 1885.
