BiographyHistory

Muriel Matters was an actress, journalist, intellectual, and suffragist. Born in Adelaide, she studied music at Adelaide University and  became an actress, elocutionist and elocution teacher.She left Australia for London at the age of 28 to further her stage career. While in London she became involved in the Women's Freedom League and was heavily involved in the 'Votes for Women' campaign.
