‘Publishing for Schools : 1946-1960

'In the period after the Second World War. most secondary texts were imported from Britain to meet the needs of Australia's secondary school market at a time when this sector was beginning to expand rapidly. Large educational booksellers began to emerge as both booksellers and publishers.The key booksellers in this trade included MeLeod’s in Brisbane, Whitcombe & Tombs, Dominie and Angus & Robertson (A&'R) in Sydney, FW Cheshire and Hall‘s in Melbourne and Rigby in Adelaide.
