Content Summary

  • Locally produced news on video tape (various formats) and small selection of film from the start of the network in 1963. Since about 2004 everything broadcast has been kept, including complete programs and camera tapes; earlier material is patchy, c1963-present
  • The main Wollongong office also stores some film and tape material from Crawfords Productions (the remainder is in Melbourne). The entire Crawfords Productions catalogue of programs from “The Box” (1974) through to “The Saddle Club” has been digitised and is to be stored on a file server in Wollongong

Comments

Some older material cannot be viewed on site because of a lack of older equipment.

Each state maintains its own tape library and should be contacted directly to request access. Most programming besides local news is provided by the Seven, Nine or Ten Networks (depending on the location of the station in the country).

The University of Wollongong Archives has a collection of WIN material (see separate entry in this database on the University’s archives). Some WIN News material can also be found at the National Film and Sound Archive.
