History
The Queensland Literary Awards were formed by the Queensland writing community in 2012 after the scrapping of the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards to "ensure that that reward and recognition of writers and encouragement for our readers continued in Queensland." (official website)

'The Queensland Literary Awards were established on the 4th April 2012 as a response to Queensland Premier Campbell Newman's decision to scrap the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards 2012.
