History

'Founded in 2009, The Adelaide Review / University of Adelaide Creative Writing Program Short Fiction Competition represents a collaboration between The Adelaide Review and the University of Adelaide's Creative Writing program. Each year it attracts some 400 entries from every state in Australia and a dozen or more countries internationally. Since its inception, the competition has also enjoyed the support of the National Arts Council of Singapore, assisting in raising the profile of short fiction writers in South East Asia. Senior competition judges Brian Castro and John Coetzee are joined each year by a guest judge — in 2009, Olive Senior, and in 2010, Gail Jones.
