History
The National Jazz Writing Competition aims to highlight the role that good reviews play in the jazz world and raise awareness of the specialist skills needed to write them well. Entrants needed to submit two reviews of Australian CDs and one review of a live gig. (http://jazz.org.au/national-jazz-writing-competiton/ )

Beginning in 2005, the National Jazz Writing Competition invited entrants to submit reviews of Australian jazz CDs and concerts. In 2008 the competition focused on short stories, and in subsequent years will alternate between literary and non-fiction genres.
