History
The NSW Writers' Centre invited Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers to enter its "Survival" writing competition. Short stories (maximum 500 words) or poetry (maximum 20 lines) could be submitted. Winners received cash prizes and free Writers' Centre membership.

A competition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers on the theme of 'Survival' organised by the New South Wales Writers' Centre, sponsored by Jumbunna and the Village Voice, and open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers from anywhere. Entrants can write on whatever interpretation they give to the word 'Survival'.
