History

The Byron Kennedy Award is for outstanding creative enterprise. 'First presented in 1984, this Award is given to those working within the film or television industries. This is an accolade usually bestowed upon someone early in their career, whose quality of work is marked by their relentless pursuit of excellence.'

From 1984 to 2010, the Byron Kennedy Award was part of the AFI Awards; from 2011 onwards, the Award was presented under the auspices of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.
