History

Named in memory of the renowned Irish short story writer Frank O'Connor, this rich award is given to the author of an original collection of short stories deemed to be the best published in English. The award was first presented in 2005 at the end of the sixth Frank O'Connor International Short Story Festival in Cork, Ireland.

The award was discontinued in 2016.
