The Popular Fiction Competition is jointly sponsored by Australian Voices in Print and the NSW Writers' Centre's and is awarded for an unpublished popular fiction manuscript by an unpublished author. The competition was 'established in 2003 to promote new Australian authors and provide an opportunity for publication in a difficult market for an unknown author to enter.'
