Richard Bosworth's biography, Mussolini (2002), won the 2003 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards, Best History Book and was shortlisted for the 2004 National Award for Biography. He has also published a historical study, Mussolini's Italy : Life Under The Dictatorship 1915-1945 (2005), which was joint winner of the Non-Fiction Award in the 2005 Western Australian Book Awards.
