BiographyHistory

Jon Kirby's mother was Wemba Wemba from Swan Hill, and his father was Muti Muti from Balranald. His father's father was Wiradjuri from Lake Cargellico.
Jon moved to Adelaide in 1997. A musician and a songwriter, he plays the guitar and the didgeridoo. His songs are about Aboriginal life and struggles but are not written for Indigenous people alone. He says, 'I like my songs to create an emotion and a reaction'. (Tauondi Speaks from the Heart p. 37)
