Herb Wharton, Lesley Synge (interviewer), single work interview
'In the 1990s, Herb Wharton, the Murri drover from Cunnamulla, cut a striking figure, every inch a stockman from his Akubra hat to his leather boots. Audiences soon discovered he was a gifted storyteller, who made them think and laugh in equal measure. In 2012, he was awarded the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature. Lesley Synge, a founding member of QWC, went to the Woodford Folk Festival's Songlines tent on New Year's Day to mull over his life and times.' (4)

Double the Adventure, single work interview
'Brisbane's Kylie Chan says her latest title, Small Shen, came about as a 'collision of opportunities' : a meeting with unrelated Sydney writer and illustrator Queenie Chan at a Brisbane convention. Kylie had a novella freshly minted in need of a home, and Queenie was looking for a new project. Kylie's publisher gave the thumbs up, and Small Shen - a part-illustrated novella - hit the shelves in December.'
