Audiences soon discovered he was a gifted storyteller, who made them think and laugh in equal measure. In 2012, he was awarded the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature. Lesley Synge, a founding member of QWC, went to the Woodford Folk Festival's Songlines tent on New Year's Day to mull over his life and times.' (4)
