AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The script held in the Crawford Collection in the AFI Research Collection contains the following character notes (excluding regular characters):

'RAINCOAT: Late fifties. An ex-crim - once a big time fence - but now a sickly, broken little man, with a variety of dirty habits and perversions.

'RON MURPHY: Early twenties - a tough, physical crim with a record for violence.

'GARY HASTINGS: His mate - about the same age. Generally more easy going - but just as violent when aroused. Drives a truck and a stacker. (Stand-in possible but preferable if actor can drive).

'SELINA YOUNG: 20. Gary's girlfriend. Sexy in a crude and obvious kind of way. From a pretty tough background.

'NIGHT WATCHMAN: A retired policeman.

'DESPATCH FOREMAN'.

      Note/s:
      • The script, copied on a combination of blue and white paper, is labelled 'Episode VV9' on the cover page. A notation on the cover page in blue ink reads, 'ANMEDED SCRIPT' [sic].
      • The script is annotated in lead pencil: a note on page 32 changes a scene from film to live, and the location from 'Garage workshop' to 'Raincoat’s flat'. There are no further annotations on this copy of the script.
      • The Crawford Collection holds three copies of this script, but only one is held in this file: the other two copies are filed separately.
      • The file includes ancillary material (access to some of which is restricted), including casting call sheets.
      • The script includes two cover pages in order to cover the full shooting schedule.
