Notes:
From his involvement with the trade union movement of the 1930s through to the black rights movement of the 1960s and 70s, Joe McGuiness has often been labelled a troublemaker. The son of an Irish migrant and an Aboriginal mother, he was raised learning Irish lore from his father and bush survival from his mother. This is his memoir and traces his life from being incarcerated in a compound in Darwin to entering the political fight for equality.
