Notes

  • Contents indexed selectively.
  • The following notice appears on p. 271 of this issue of My Note Book:
Colonial Publication: Mr. Charles Whitehead, author of "The Cavalier," "Smiles & Tears," &c., is about to bring out a volume of poetry entitled "Eustace; A Tale; The Spanish Marriage; A Dramatic Story; and other Poems;" and I trust, as this work will be almost the only one of the kind, published in Melbourne previous to publication elsewhere, that it will receive a satisfactory number of subscribers.'

It seems likely that 'a satisfactory number of subscribers' was not forthcoming as the book did not appear.
