Literary and Debating Society, single work column
Commends the Literary and Debating Society for the successful completion of its first six months, during which time it has become one of the 'most useful and popular institutions' in Cairns and has amalgamated with the School of Arts, to the mutual benefit of both. In particular, the society provides the youth of the town with 'rational amusement' and the chance for self-improvement.
