Dorothea Mackellar Repeats the Verse of Her Youth, single work column
From her private hospital bed in Randwick, Sydney, New South Wales, Dorothea Mackellar details 'for the first time publicly, why she wrote the words thousands of young Australians have learned by heart'. Mackellar explains that she was on the verandah of her parents' Maitland property, writing a letter to a friend in England, when she 'literally' saw the paddock on the horizon change colour.
