Dedicated to my beloved father, Dimitrios Emm. Papayiannakis, descendant from the renowned island of Crete; to my beloved mother Konstantina and my beloved grandmother Eleni Nikotsara-Paphila, both descendants from the evergreen valley which rests at the foot of Mount Parnassus, the home of the most striking beauties, the Nine Olympian Muses, deities with their unique charisma and harmony, they inspire the mortals in poetry, music, song, dance and love: in all kinds of literature and all the fine arts.
Also dedicated to my dearest land, our little farm situated at Linfarn Road, west Manjimup, ten kilometers from the town in the Warren District, southwest of Western Australia. And to the memory of my father-in-law, Athanasios Kalamaras, whom Australians called 'Tom'; to my husband Leonidas (Leon) and our two sons, Athansios and Konstandinos for without all their hard labouring work, devotion and love, we would never have succeeded in having our own sacred piece of earth. We planted new seeds there and from these seeds have grown the roots for our granddaughters Natasha and Vassiliki and our grandsons Dhamon and Jason in this new country, now the Motherland, Australia.

Helen Nickas writes in the introduction to the book that some of the stories were written first in Greek and then re-written in English.
