Notes

  • Includes an introductory letter, dated (in error) November 1836. (The cover has the correct date of November 1835.) In the letter, Charles Macdonald offers his thanks to those who supported the first issue of the Sydney Coronal and hopes that there will be sufficient 'wise and liberal men' among the thinly-populated colony of New South Wales 'to reward genius and encourage literature'. He also hopes that those same men will 'forward the diffusion of knowledge, and culture with a fostering hand the humble exertions of an Australian bard'.
