AbstractHistoryArchive Description
The 'Cthulhu Mythos' is a shared fictional universe created in the 1920s by American horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. The creature Cthulhu is a central figure in Lovecraft's literature and the focus of his famous short story 'The Call of Cthulhu' (first published in 1928 by Weird Tales). That story has in turn served as the system of lore employed by Lovecraft and the many authors who have since expanded this fictional universe with their own stories.
