'"Briwyant" is inspired by bir'yun: brilliance, shimmer and shine. In Yolngu traditional painting, bir'yun is the effect of intricate crosshatched patterns creating a sensation of shimmering movement over the painting's surface, a manifestation of ancestral forces. In Briwyant, Vicki Van Hout and her collarborative team explore the magic of repetition and the interdisciplinary nature of Indigenous cultural expression. "Briwyant" is a dance performance about light and shadow, the passing of time, personal and community knowledge.' (Source: http://www.performancespace.com.au/?p=7165) Sighted: 19/04/2011.

  • First performed at Bay 20 Theatre, Carriageworks, Redfern 13-16 April 2011.
