AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Lian is engaged to David, the love of her life. Yet something is getting in the way of her happiness. It rises to the surface in a heated argument with her mother, who tells her that she "isn't ready to get married".

'Lian is further rattled when she receives a mysterious package. Who is it from, what is the significance of the strange objects inside, and what does it mean for her impending marriage?'

  • The China Heart experience guides participants 'through the streets of China Town in Sydney' and reveals its secrets. Participants download an app to their iPhones, or connect through a mobile website in Sydney or explore online. Locations and maps lead participants through significant locations while video clips help unfold Lian's story.

The Sydney locations are Powerhouse Museum, Trocadero Ballroom Site, Clanhouse in Dixon Street and the Chinese Gardens of Friendship at Darling Harbour.

The China Heart experience ran from 1 to 13 February 2011.

  • China Heart was presented by d/Lux/MediaArts in association with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, the Powerhouse Museum and the Project Factory. China Heart is supported by Screen NSW, Screen Australia, the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and City of Sydney.
