Notes

  • English translation of the title: The Love Story of Trọng Thủy – Mỵ Châu
  • Mỵ Châu was a princess. Her father, King An Dương Vương of Âu Lạc around 200 BC had a magical weapon given to him by the Turtle God. The neighbour King who wanted to obtain that weapon sent his son, Trọng Thủy, to ask for Mỵ Châu's hand. Trọng Thủy after the marriage soon discovered the secret and went back to his homeland. King An Dương Vương was defeated, so he carried his daugher on his horseback to escape. When he was told by the Turtle God that his enemy was behind his back, he found that his daughter left traces of swan feathers from her coat to mark the way, and he killed her. Trọng Thủy arrived only to find his wife dead. Trọng Thủy-Mỵ Châu is a love story marked by tragedy and national interest.
