Plumbob (Bob) Waterhouse's mother wants him to be an outstanding plumber, so she consults a witch who tells her to bury a chop-bone and her husband's bootlaces in the churchyard at full moon. She does this and Bob becomes a magic plumber overnight, which is the cause of all his problems.
