AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The narrator recalls a night on the front when a British officer invited him to a 'smoke social'. The soldier finds the standard of singing and recitation very good, but is nonplussed to find eight German non-commissioned officers also enjoying the concert and contributing acts. At the end of the evening, friend and foe alike have enjoyed a very lively concert.
