AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The narrator recalls a time when many Britons were acquiring land in Australia and New Zealand, and how he had been on a sea journey with a fellow travelling from Australia to New Zealand for the purpose of buying land. The journey proved hazardous and stormy, and the traveller suffered terribly from seasickness so that, when the storm finally abated and the shores of New Zealand were in sight, the man was almost too ill to derive pleasure from reaching his destination.
