Author's note: Knowing that my parents were immigrants, Professor Hickey rang me one day asking me to write an Immigrant's story. After reading it, he told me that he loved the story and wanted to go over it with me. Unfortunately I went back to Australia for a year and then he got sick and as it was he who inspired it. I have included this piece in honour of Professor Hickey as it was he to inspire it.
