The review concludes: 'The moral of "The Emigrant Family" affords much information of all the phases of colonial life in Australia, which is perculiarly valuable; and therefore it must be recommended to the reader. Due caution should, however, be used in not attaching too much credit to the partial picture of the "currency," or native born Australian community, which the author has drawn.'
