AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A squatter near Dubbo has drawn money from the bank for a stock sale, and expects his brother at the station, so he goes home without getting his rifle fixed, despite news that the Kelly gang is approaching. In the night someone bangs on his door and he thinks the Kellys are using their usual ruse to get inside. At dawn he discovers the attacker asleep outside, the local ostler who promised to bring his rifle out next day.
