  • Editor's note: The following poem was written, but never published, by the late George Essex Evans, of Toowoomba, Queensland. He presented the poem in his own handwriting to Mr. Ormond Smith, who lived for some years in Brisbane, and who frequently met him, and sometimes illustrated his poems.
