'The Pilot Thistle adventures have been woven into a series of stories by Mr Wallace Dixon. Pilot Thistle is an enterprising, but impecunious, airman, whose capital consists merely of an antiquated plane and an inexhaustible supply of courage and good humor. With these assets, and the assiatance of one Treacle, an Aboriginal mechanic, he wrest a living from the North Australian skyway, undertaking commissions at which a wiser man would have looked askance...'
