One of a number of letters from notable literary figures calling for a greater recognition of Australian literature and writers which appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald in at this time. Here Dalley refers to a lecture given by poet and literary figure Hugh McCrae titled 'My Father and My Father's Friends', which he hoped would promote a greater public interest in Australian literature.
