A young female teacher's pupils achieve disappointing results in the public examinations. As a result, her uncle does not provide her with the money to found a school for girls. The uncle, however, does provide money for her to marry her suitor Bertie Peyton and 'furnish a certain pretty little cottage on the Derwent'.
