A series of correspondent's reports on a tour of North Queensland, which the author made in 1899-1900. The series provides a valuable contemporary account of life and society in the Cairns region and Tableland mining towns at the turn of the 20th century, and it also gives interesting insights into the trials encountered by a woman travelling in the region at this time. The first article appeared in The Brisbane Courier on 16 September, 1899, and the series ran at intervals through to the final article which was published on 13 January, 1900. The articles also appeared in The Queenslander, albeit at somewhat later (and irregular) dates. In some of the articles the author's real name appeared in parentheses alongside her writing name.
