Indigent daughter of ex-bank manager takes refuge with childhood working-class friend in her cottage, living on 'the pension' after her rich sister's allowance peters out. Niece and nephew try to reclaim her but she stays with friend, who promises to remember her working class place. Nephew makes her allowance to remove the stigma of 'the pension'.
