AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This volume comprises first person accounts of migrants 'from Iran, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the UK, the Philippines, Germany, Hungary, Silesia, West Prussia, Russia, Greece, South Africa, Holland, Siberia and Czechoslovakia, and one early story of migration [is] included because it reminds us of how many have been migrants in the past.' -- Editor's Introduction, p. vii.

Notes

  • 'The Shoalhaven has drawn many different people to it: those who fled persecution, those who came for love, those who came because they are adventurous and wanted to explore a different part of the world, those who came for the benefit of their children, and those who saw an opportunity for a new start, freedom and fresh air.

'Some of these stories will make you laugh and some will break your heart but each story is particular and beautiful in its own way.' -- Back Cover
