'Sweet Death' has a heroine who gorges herself to death on gourmet pastries and sweets. Conceived and composed by Greenwell to a libretto by playwright Abe Pogos, it was based upon the novel by Claude Tardat, and was broadcast on ABC radio in 1992.

First produced at the Merlyn Theatre, South Melbourne, Victoria, by Chamber Made Opera as part of the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts [1991] 17 September 1991. Musical direction by Peter Locke, directed by Douglas Horton.
