Martin speaks about the early literary influence on his work, his political beliefs, the conflict in his work between the poet and the prose writer, working in India, coming to Australia in 1949, writing Spiegel the Cat; his working method, and working as a journalist. Martin reads the poems : 'The Gift' and 'War Cemetery'.
