  • This poem was written in response to a letter of congratulations sent to Slessor by the children of Class 5A, Orange Primary School on the occasion of his sixty-first birthday.
    Geoffrey Dutton asserts that this poem 'could be called [Slessor's] last published poem'. Kenneth Slessor : A Biography. Ringwood : Viking, 1991, p. 11. The poem is reproduced in Dutton's biography (p.11) and also in Douglas Stewart's A Man of Sydney : An Apprecication of Kenneth Slessor (p.25).
