Robert Messenger reveals that the main character in D.H. Lawrence's novel Kangaroo, was based on William John Scott (otherwise known as John or 'Jack' Scott), the brother of Allen Humphrey Scott. Laurence's wife, Frieda Lawrence was the cousin of 'The Bloody Red Baron', Manfred von Richthofen.
