Tim Winton was involved in a public campaign to save the fragile Ningaloo Reef, off the north-west coast of Western Australia, from developers who planned to build a $200 million marina resort in the area. This article relates how 'A passionate group of amateurs with little clout and no money took on the might of government and big business.' (Author)
