Notes

  • Author's note: 'I've written many pieces on shopping. This one is focused on examining the culture of those temporary stalls in shopping plazas, the ones that sell all sorts of cheap items that might catch your eye under the neon lights.'

'Joanne Burns writes tangential, idiosyncratic prose poems, list poems and monologues. Her subjects are often urban, psychological and political and she likes to mock pomposity. In this feature Joanne Burns reads a selection of her poems and talks about her work.'
